Anuel AA faces backlash for his performance at La Velada del Año, deafening the crowd, which he later abhorred | Medium Global Magazine
On Saturday, July 13, an impressive night was experienced at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid during La Velada del Año 4, an event organized by streamer Ibai Llanos. The content creator, favored with his boxing night, featured several live artists, including Anuel AA. The Puerto Rican artist was among those who performed in front of thousands of attendees and millions more who followed the show via Twitch. However, Anuel AA’s musical performance became one of the most commented moments on social networks.
After his performance was delayed for over an hour, Anuel AA left much to be desired once he took the stage. During his brief performance, there was a moment when his voice sounded distorted, leading to comparisons to cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. In the end, Anuel decided to leave the stage. “I’ve had a problem. I couldn’t give you guys a decent show,” he said by way of apology before leaving. This video, shared by Ibai Llanos himself, has gone viral on all social media platforms, unleashing a barrage of reactions and memes from users.
However, beyond the fights, one name still resonates today, hours later, in social networks. Anuel AA was among those who generated the most comments since his appearance on the show with a performance that has been described by many as “shameful” and “scandalous”.
“It wasn’t Anuel’s fault, but the people who think he makes good music,” “Anuel ft Mickey Mouse,” “Bonus fight: Anuel vs my ears,” “Anuel, now I truly can’t defend you,” “If singing well were a crime, Anuel would never see a jail cell,” “It wasn’t Anuel, it was his double with Donald Duck’s voice,” “Anuel’s worst enemy is Anuel himself,” “Mickey Mouse from Temu,” “Me explaining to the mechanic how my car sounds,” “The world record for the longest rooster crow,” “Waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes just for Mickey Mouse to show up,” “The best fight: Anuel vs his vocal cords,” “Anuel shattered eardrums, but he shattered them” and “Not even Donald Duck dared to do that” or “That’s right, Anuel, don’t let anyone humiliate you; you can do it all by yourself,” are just some of the many comments being read.
The artist has defended himself and has done so by lashing out at the streamer on his social networks. “That Ibai, that rascabicho, was making jokes with my name before I came out. Bastard, I was 5 minutes late nothing more,” the Puerto Rican assures.
“They didn’t let my DJ throw the show for me. They didn’t let my engineer do my voice,” he complains. “That’s not my voice, those bastards controlled everything. That crap they did to me, that Ibai guy…. They sabotaged the whole concert,” he says in a video that is spreading like wildfire in the networks.
In addition, during a moment of the performance, a sound failure caused the singer to stop being heard with autotune, so that his clean voice was heard even worse, with “historical rooster” included.
After eight minutes of concert and three songs, the Puerto Rican announced, among boos, that his performance was over: “I had a problem. I couldn’t give them a decent show,” he said, citing sound problems.
